About Me

Nessie
My work is inspired by the complex and intricate patterns created through traditional textile methods such as crocheting and French knitting. I am to bring a sense of value to these methods, utilizing them to construct wearable pieces of jewellery made from precious materials. My collection is primarily process driven; I concentrate on furthering conventional techniques while highlighting the tactile qualities of the elaborate crocheted and knitted components. When you apply these techniques to metal, the finished structures have a physical strength while retaining a delicate appearance, which allows an exploration of the negative spaces and therefore an emphasis on the complex and intricate patterns. Initially these techniques were to cure my restless hands but soon became an obsession. This page is designed to showcase my work and my desire to re-establish peoples interest in the techniques. Make sure you look at the older posts as well to see the full collection. Please get in touch if you would like any more information... v.butselaar@gmail.com
